What is Water Cremation?
A Gentle, Eco-Friendly Farewell
Water cremation is a gentle, environmentally friendly alternative to traditional flame-based cremation. This process mimics nature’s decomposition using warm water, alkaline salts, and gentle movement, accelerating the natural breakdown of organic material. Unlike traditional fire cremation, which releases significant carbon emissions and requires a lot of energy, water cremation produces less than 2% of the carbon emissions associated with conventional cremation.
At the conclusion of the process, your pet’s physical elements are returned to their natural form and dispersed into the water. With water cremation, you receive all of your beloved pet’s bone ash, offering a complete and gentle farewell - unlike flame cremation, where 20–30% can be lost. While the nutrient-rich water solution is returned to the earth, spread across local farmland and native forests to support new growth.
Originally developed and patented in 1888 in America to process animal remains into plant fertiliser, this process is now used globally as an alternative to flame-based cremation and burial for both pets and people.
By choosing Resting Waters, you are selecting a peaceful, gentle, and environmentally friendly way to care for your pet’s final journey.
