Although the water cremation process itself takes 8-10 hours, there are additional steps involved in your pet’s journey with us at Resting Waters. Our goal is to return your pet to you within 5 - 7 working days
Water Cremation utilises well-established technology first patented in 1888 that is now being applied in the modern pet care industry. It’s quickly becoming the preferred afterlife choice for pet owners in Europe, the USA, Canada, and Australia.
In New Zealand, we’re still early in this journey. Resting Waters is one of the first businesses to offer this service in the country.
Our service allows you to honour your pet by selecting the most gentle, peaceful, and environmentally friendly afterlife care. Water cremation operates with 90% less energy than traditonal flame-based cremation. The process is calm, and the leftover water solution is completely non-toxic. This water is then taken to local farmland to improve soil health.
Our highest priority is ensuring that every pet is safely returned to their family. As fellow pet parents, we know how important trust is when it comes to caring for your beloved companion. To provide peace of mind, we use a metal disc tracking system, similar to those used in human after life services, to ensure your pet’s identification is maintained throughout the process.
This unique identifier accompanies your pet from pick-up to return, with thorough checks at every step. Each pet’s water cremation takes place in a separate stainless steel compartment. The ashes are then dried individually and placed in separate urns, ensuring that only your pet’s ashes are returned to you.
Yes, after the Water Cremation process, the remains are completely non-toxic. The process eliminates all pathogens and chemicals, making the ashes safe to handle.
The leftover water solution is completely non-toxic and is in fact incredibly nutrient rich and nutritious for plants. We transport the water solution out to local farm land and native forrest. The water is spread over the land and helps to stimulate new life.
